Manganese and decarbonization
Manganese is now considered a critical raw material in the European Union, highlighting its strategic role in the EU economy and its decarbonization efforts!
Manganese is mentioned in the list of 34 critical raw materials, identified in the European Critical Raw Materials Act (proposal published by the European Commission on March 16th, 2023). This act aims at ensuring EU access to a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials, enabling Europe to meet its 2030 climate and digital objectives.
The IMnI is actively engaging with the European Union authorities to provide reliable and transparent information about the potential of Manganese in decarbonization and technologies for strategic sectors, including steel, agriculture and batteries.
