The extreme situation of nickel prices in 2022 has triggered the restructuring of the nickel industry chain, and Indonesia, as one of the world’s largest nickel resource countries, has also won new development opportunities as a result. In the past two years, the explosive growth of the alloy sector and the increase in demand for 300 series stainless steel due to consumption upgrades have once again driven the increase in local nickel intermediate and primary nickel end production in Indonesia. The expectation of market surplus has raised concerns among practitioners about the industry.
