Jindal Shadeed SiMn smelter and steel mill
Sohar Steel is adjacent to the seaport of Sohar. It is equipped with advanced facilities like a Bendotti Walking Beam Reheating Furnace and Automatic Tension Control.
The plant is an integrated steel plant. JSIS have 2 MTPA DRI plants (Technology by Midrex) which is directly connected with SMS (EAF ) and 2.4 MTPA (Technology by Danieli ). After SMS ,they have 1.5 MTPA rebar rolling mill with hot charging (Technology by Danieli).
Sohar Steel produces 700,000 tons per annum of high-quality steel products including 8 mm to 32 mm regards, billets and the proposed new products wire rodes ranging between 5.5 mm to 16 mm.
JSIS priorities decarbonisation by reducing the industry’s carbon footprint. With a careful selection of advanced technologies, JSIS have become one of the lowest carbon-emitting steel manufacturers.
