LIBERTY Bell Bay is part of GFG Alliance, a group of global businesses owned by Sanjeev Gupta and his family, a company committed to broadening the horizons to better serve global and domestic customers, whilst creating a sustainable future for industry and society.

Established in 1960, LIBERTY Bell Bay, formerly known as the Tasmanian Electro Metallurgical Company (TEMCO), is a leading producer of ferromanganese and silicomanganese, and is the only commercial ferroalloy operation in Australia.

The LIBERTY Bell Bay plant is one of the largest manufacturing operations in Tasmania, consisting of four submerged electric arc furnaces with capacity of 270kpta and a sinter plant with the capacity of 325kpta, making LIBERTY Bell Bay one of the largest ferroalloy producers globally.  Flexible production processes, including ore blending, means LIBERTY Bell Bay’s products are of the highest quality and recognised and accepted internationally.

Strategically located in northeast Tasmania at the mouth of the Tamar River, LIBERTY Bell Bay has exclusive berth access at one of Tasmania’s deepest shipping ports, which sits adjacent to the plant and facilitates more than 3.6 million tonnes of exports and imports annually.

LIBERTY Bell Bay continues to support GFG Alliance’s carbon neutrality by 2030 (CN30) ambition, and accesses Tasmania’s abundant supply of renewable hydroelectric power, making it one of the world’s greenest ferro alloy producers.

Liberty Bell Bay – GFG Alliance is an Ordinary Member of the International Manganese Institute (IMnI).
