IMnI Webinar Recap: EU CBAM Monitoring Plan – Preparing for Verification
On 16 June, IMnI hosted a webinar on the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) Monitoring Plan, featuring Víctor Pérez Prieto, Co-founder & CEO of Carbon Glance.
The topic generated strong interest across the manganese industry, with more than 110 registrations from over 55 IMnI member companies. The session explored how non-EU manufacturers can prepare for the upcoming CBAM verification process and highlighted the critical role of the Monitoring Plan in establishing reliable emissions monitoring, data management, and verification readiness.
💡 Key takeaways included:
- The Monitoring Plan has no official template and should be developed based on CBAM regulatory requirements.
- Companies should ensure that emissions data, production processes, calculation methods, and quality control systems are clearly documented.
- Preparing Monitoring Plans in 2026 is essential to ensure a smooth and efficient verification process in 2027, once the accredited verifier list is known and full 2026 primary data are available.
A big thank you to Víctor Pérez Prieto for sharing his expertise, and to all participants for their valuable engagement and insightful questions.
As an additional benefit, IMnI members can access a free CBAM verification readiness check session with Carbon Glance to support their CBAM preparation. The session can be booked here: https://calendly.com/victor-e-0/verification-readiness-check
