Musamu Resources Ltd is an emerging privately wholly owned indigenous Zambian Large Scale Mining Company incorporated in 2009 with its head office in Kitwe, Zambia. Following completion of a twelve-year mineral exploration programme, the company has opened a Greenfield Large Scale Luongo Manganese Open Pit Mine in Chipili District of Luapula Province, Zambia. The mine was officially launched in November 2022 by His Excellency The President of the Republic of Zambia Mr Hakainde Hichilema. It is the first wholly owned indigenous Zambian large scale manganese mine in Zambia.
The company was founded by Dr Sixtus Mulenga; a mining geologist and a stalwart of Zambian Mining industry with over fourty five years of mining industry experience, through personal investment. The mine has a JORC2012 Classification Code Compliant Resource of about fourty (40) million tonnes at an average grade of 43%; which is about 17.2million tonnes of contained Manganese, out of which about one (1) million tonnes has been diamond drilled to a proven mineral reserve level; which is about 430,000 tonnes of contained Manganese. Highest grade is about 50% Mn.
The mine plan is to produce about 1 million tonnes of manganese ore per annum by year five. Production started in 2022 and currently is being ramped up. Musamu Resources Ltd is able to supply constant large tonnages of manganese ore on a regular basis to the market on a long term contractual basis. As a manganese ore producer.
