In addition to the Conference, IMnI’s South African members hosted two days of technical tours prior to the conference (June 9th & 10th). Participants chose between four destinations: Samancor’s Metalloys plant, Assmang’s Cato Ridge plant, a Manganese Metal Company's electrolytic Mn metal plant in Nelspruit and a trip to the Kalahari to visit two mines: Mamatwan (Samancor) and new Nchwaning3 (Assmang).
The Theme of the technical tours was “Environment and Safety Standards & How Host Companies Address Them”. This theme, along with the opportunity to visit state-of-the-art works, was of particular interest to companies interested in improving their own environmental and safety standards. |
